Construction Safety Services

Efficient, effective, affordable fully-integrated safety programs

Creating a people-first safety culture

Construction safety regulations are always evolving, yet employing a full-time safety professional to keep you current with changing legislation can be too costly for many businesses. But safety violations and serious incidents can have even higher costs with wide-reaching impact on your business and staff. Capital City Safety offer a range of safety services delivered by our team of knowledgeable professionals at a fraction of the cost of a full-time employee. We’re committed to developing a culture of safety in the construction industry, and our services reflect this commitment.

We offer customized safety programs that give your workforce the tools and knowledge to stay safe while on the job. It’s impossible to put a value on the safety of your staff, but it’s not difficult to see the benefits that a fully integrated safety program can offer your business: increased productivity, reduced injuries and time lost to injuries, fewer insurance claims, reduced insurance costs, hiring and employee retention advantages, and much more. The National Safety Council’s research has shown that $1 invested in injury prevention returns between $2 to $6. Investment in safety now results in a substantial savings over the lifetime of your business.

Build Your Safety Plan

Click the toggle switches on our services below to build your custom safety plan. You'll have an opportunity to contact us using the form at the bottom of the list. You can send us the services you've selected and your contact preference with so that we can discuss how to tailor the plan to your business.

Consulting Services

We provide a range of consulting services that can be tailored to fit your exact requirements. We can take the lead and guide you through the ever-changing safety obligations for the construction industry, or work alongside your management team or in conjunction with your in-house safety professional (or team) to provide guidance. If you’re not sure exactly what you need, or have a question you think we can answer, call us - we’re the experts!

OSHA Representation

Should you find yourself facing an OSHA hearing and need support, we can provide professional third party representation. Our staff are experts in their field and have considerable experience dealing with OSHA inspectors and area directors, and will work hard to protect your rights.

Walk & Talk

Our walk and talk service involves one of our team visiting your construction site where they will make detailed observations in accordance with applicable OSHA standards. Their observations will be relayed to you verbally at the time, and then in the form of a report that outlines all of their positive and negative safety observations (and includes photographic evidence to support and illustrate their observations). Our clients can then use their walk and talk report to acknowledge the good safety protocol of their staff, administer discipline, and most importantly correct the hazards identified. Follow-ups will be assigned to a company representative to deal with the hazards that cannot be corrected during the walk and talk process. The price for this service includes a iScout safety software monthly subscription.

We can provide professional health and safety training to your staff in a wide range of courses that cover many aspects of construction health and safety. Our trainers can also train your in-house safety staff to deliver safety training. We offer training courses covering the following:

  • OSHA 10
  • OSHA 30
  • First Aid/CPR National Safety Council Certified Trainer
  • iScout Safety Software Authorized Administrator
  • JLG Equipment Authorized Trainer
  • Scaffold Training Institute Certified Trainer
  • Aerial Lift Combo and Forklift Combo Trainer
  • Fall Protection Trainer
  • Confined Space Entry and Rescue Trainer
  • Trenching and Shoring Trainer

Safety Gap Analysis

Our safety gap analysis service evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of your current safety program, and uses this analysis to provide you with a roadmap of actions for improvement.

Custom Safety Manual

Having a health and safety manual is crucial to developing a strong safety culture in the workplace, and we can work with you to create a custom safety manual that is easy to understand and is based on policies and procedures designed specifically for your requirements.

Safety Documentation

Keep administration to a minimum by letting us handle your safety paperwork. All you need to do is provide us with the relevant source information and we can handle the rest. We make it easy – simply hand over the OSHA and Contractor/Owner forms so you can concentrate on what you do best.

First Things First (FTF)

First Things First is a custom-designed piece of software that ensures that company work tasks are discussed onsite prior to work starting. Administered through iScout safety software, FTF allows the worksite foreman to lead discussion and engage all relevant employees. The price for this service includes a iScout safety software monthly subscription.

Focused Activity Safety Task (FAST)

Planning is one of the most effective methods of reducing hazards, and our FAST hazard analysis technique is an invaluable way of identifying hazards and understanding how to mitigate or eliminate them. FAST is a worksite poster that is modified weekly by the worksite foreman using input from all relevant employees – a simple but effective must-have for your safety toolbox. The price for this service includes a iScout safety software monthly subscription.

Site Specific Safety Plan (3SP)

The site specific safety plan (3SP) is a first-rate safety document that allows you to monitor accountability for safety management and safe work methods. 3SP is a streamlined document that provides a condensed version of site specific safety items and the potential hazards of individual projects.

The 3SP will meet (and in many instances exceed) guidelines established by the managing contractor on site, OSHA, and any other local, state, or federal government agency you may be subject to. The 3SP demonstrates client commitment to health and safety, and enhances your staffs’ understanding of potential hazards by ensuring proper planning and safety disciplines.

Custom Office Safety Plan

It’s easy to put all of your health and safety focus into the field, but it’s equally important to ensure your office is a safe place to work. After performing a detailed appraisal of your office space and existing safety policies and plans, we create a custom office safety plan that records (and eliminates where possible) potential hazards, fire extinguisher plans, and emergency egress plans.

Safety Metrics

Safety metrics are an excellent way of tracking hazard findings, injuries, and corrective actions (both open and closed), and our software allows you to use the data entered throughout each month to provide instant data analysis including trends, graphs, and summary reports that identify site-specific hazard trends. Safety metrics allow you to respond to your own collected data swiftly and effectively, eliminating hazards and using the information to identify material and content for safety training purposes. The price for this service includes a iScout safety software monthly subscription.

Contractor Prequalification

Many safety consultants rely solely on EMR or DART statistics to guide their prequalification advice, but we believe safety is too nuanced to rely solely on these statistics (one incident can skew the statistics significantly) so we use a variety of tools and resources to help our clients choose the best contractors for their project. Safety is as much about the people and the culture of any given organization as it is about the numbers – we use our expertise to find the contractors whose statistics, culture, and people, all score well for safety.

Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis

Investigating a worksite incident provides employers and workers with a valuable opportunity to identify hazards in their operations, and shortcomings in their health and safety programs. And most importantly, it enables employers and workers to identify and implement the corrective actions necessary to prevent future incidents. When we consult on incident investigation and root cause analysis, we make sure that both the causes and the solutions are identified.

Loss Control / Risk Management

Effective loss control and risk management consultancy boils down to safeguarding the best interests of our clients whilst looking after their bottom line. Hire us to guide you through insurance renewal or worker compensations claims and we guarantee to do both.

Public Speaking

If you’re looking for someone to speak passionately and knowledgeably about health and safety, look no further! Whether you want to us to generate trust in your company’s safety message, or create enthusiasm by sharing our story with your audience (it’s a good one if we do say so ourselves), we’re happy to oblige.

Crisis Management

Capital City Safety can provide the vital cool head and calm focus that is essential to responding effectively to a crisis situation. We aim to help you in your hour of need by spearheading a response that makes clear to key players what their responsibilities are, focuses on problems in time-sensitive order, and eliminates as much confusion as possible from the situation so that company management can focus their time on the most pressing concerns.
